Information on PI (Parity Inner) Errors/Failures:
*PI Errors: Refers to rows of ECC (Error Correction Code) Blocks that have at least 1 byte in error that’s considered correctable, which translates to a PI Error. No large areas, usually designated as 8 consecutive ECC Blocks, of the disc should surpass 280 PI Errors.
*PI Failures: Refers to rows of ECC Blocks that contain an uncorrectable PI Error, which is then considered a PI Failure. No single ECC Block should contain more than 4 PI Failures, which then result in PO Errors that can lead to PO Failures, which should not exist at all on any discs.
*As always, in both cases, lower is better.
