These CD-Rs are listed on this site under printable CD-R. They are far from printable. I bought 200 for the purpose of testing them against the white finish printable as a metallic finish is much more desireable with the color printing. The ink would not take at all so DO NOT buy these as printable CD-Rs.

A previous review mentioned a fragile (Top) Data layer on these CD's. I found it to be very durable for day to day use. My concern was if fingerprints or moisture would ruin the surface like those found in inkjet printables. No problems with these, the surface is a pretty shiny silver laquer where fingerprints can easily be wiped off. Even a little water wont harm it. I started transfering Music and Data off my other discs to make more trusted permanent copies. No Disc related coasters so far! Taiyo Yuden is Great Stuff!

I have been using this media for a while now. I have never experienced any errors while recording on these discs. The problem that I have is the the data surface is extremely delicate. If I don't apply a label (fellowes) to the discs, the top surface scratches very easily. Once that is damaged, the disc is useless. I love the color pigmentation on the bottom of the discs. Most cheapy brands are very light in color where you can't tell where the data ends - not these. Having gone through about 2 100 spindles of these, I am still very happy with reliability and readability, but will no longer purchase the thermal lacquer media. Instead I will purchase one of the inkjet printable spindles from the same manufacturer. Overall a great disc, very reliable if stored properly, but weak on durability from day to day use.
