The DL DVD+R (dual-layer) media is the newest technology breakthrough in optical discs. The advanced, single-sided disc has an amazing 8.5GB of storage capacity, enough for up to four hours of DVD-quality video, 16 hours of VHS-quality video, or over 120 hours of MP3 audio. It is compatible with all current DVD video players and DVD-ROM drives as well as new DVD+R DL drives, the disc is ideal for virtually any business or household application.

New technology allows material to be either read or recorded on one layer without affecting material on the other layer. An important advantage of the double-layer configuration is convenience. It allows users to read, write, or view nearly twice the amount of data than with the currently popular single-layer 4.7GB DVD discs without having to flip sides or change discs.

I used Memorex DL DVD's to rip movies until recently. I bought one of their 50 pks and non of the would write with my LiteOn burner. It was strange because the lot I had before worked. After calling Memorex tech support and talking with a person I could barely understand I got nowhere. I did some review searching and read good reviews on Ritek Ridata Double Layer 2.4X 8.5GB DVD+R DL Media 50 Pack in Cake Box. I order 25 to start and have not had any problems at all with them. I will continue to buy them and Memorex can stuff it.

These are the only DD disks that will work on my burner incuding the 4X and 8X of this brand

Great media, tad on the pricey side. Hopefully Dual Layer media will fall in price sooner or later though. Had 3 coasters due to write speed being to high, these discs are rated for 8x but should not be burned above 4x as you may end up with a view coasters.
