Thermal Printable Disc Q&A

What is Thermal Printable Media? – Thermal printable media recordable discs that support printing on the top surface with a Thermal disc printer. The media will have a silver lacquer surface or a special factory coated white surface.

What is a Thermal Disc Printer? – A Thermal Disc printer uses a heated print head and consumable ribbons with color panels to print monochrome information to the top surface of thermal printable media. Examples of a Thermal printer are the Rimage PrismPlusTM

Can Thermal Printable media be used with an ink jet printer? – No, the top, printable surface of Thermal printable discs have a special coating designed for Thermal printing only. Ink from ink jet printers will not adhere to this media.

Taiyo Yuden DVD's are literally the original DVD's in that the company helped to pioneer CD's back in the 1980's. The quality and consistency is 99.9% for me. I have no idea why I get that .1% coaster every now and then...I don't care, the consistency of performance is way ahead of all the others I have used including Sony and TDK.

It's hard to me to gage the quality of the disc to it's competitors because of my knowledge of the industry, but so far I've only has one disc that was bad out of about the 70 or so I've used.

In every other category though the experience has been great!
