LightScribe Media Version 1.2 (MV 1.2) is the next performance step in LightScribe media, resulting from improvements in the LightScribe coating chemistry. Like the original LightScribe media, MV 1.2 will scribe in black on a gold background. Label times will be faster, contrast options will be greater, and will be backwards compatible with existing optical drives.

In response to customer requests, MV 1.2 gives LightScribe customers have more control over their LightScribe imaging experience, by allowing them to trade off imaging-time against image contrast.

The difference between the CD and DVD images in Media Version 1.2 is less apparent than with the original LightScribe media. The archival/shelf life of MV1.2 is expected to be comparable to the original media.

Media Version 1.2 is compatible with all existing LightScribe hardware. A simple software update -through a download of new System Software (driver) file - is all that is required for optimal labeling with MV 1.2.

After using one hundred of these, I only had three which would not burn onto the data side of the cd. I can only remember one which would not burn the image side. I did have some error messages, but after ejecting and cleaning the cd it would work. There were a couple of times I had to restart the computer itself. This not occur very often and I am sure these can happen no matter what type of cd I buy. 96% useful cd's is something I can live with and the images do not fade. I am very pleased.

Good disc, but I am underwhelmed with the Lightscribe feature

I bought a Bluray burner that is also a Lightscribe burner, so I decided to try out the Lightscribe discs for backups. I thought that the image burned with Lightscribe (I was using text only) would show up better than it does. The text it burned is actually quite hard to read and I was stunned by how long it took for very little simple text. I will not be using any more Lightscribe discs in the future.

Great price for a great product. Went through about 10 so far and they all burned great. The quality looks perfect. No problems yet. What makes it even better is I saved money by ordering them from here rather than getting them in the store.

The HP Lightscribe 50 CDR is a great value for folks who want an "upgrade" for their CD burning collection. I use the CDR type (as opposed to CDRW) specifically for AV media (primarly audio) that I know will be a permanent burn/recording. The Lightscribe technology is preferable in that it just makes the disc look more professional/neater and a very desirable thing to have.
