OK, but talking to a customer service rep might have helped.

I received the four cartridges and installed them into my Canon i860. I immediately printed a test page and didn't come out right.
Turns out the correct cartridges would have been:
BCI-3eB (OK)
BCI-6eY (received BCI-3eY)
BCI-6eM (received BCI-3eM)
BCI-6eC (received BCI-3eC)

Since the printer works fine now, I suppose the cartridges are compatible, but not what I paid a high price for.
