This product is not at all compatible to the later model Canon printers that require a circuit board on the cartridge. My Canon Pixma MP500 printer/scanner was purchased in 2006. Without this circuit board on the cartridge, the later model printers will not recognize the replacement cartridge, regardless of how well it physically interchanges. I had to throw away these cartridges as scrap.

I followed the online directions and the directions that came with the product and after replacing the OEM chip into the new non-oem cartridge, the printer fails to recognize the cartridge or ink level.
