Verbatim is the most reliable brand name for blank DVDs, telling from my long experience and from recommendatios from several professionals.
DL DVDs are particularly difficult to find at stores, particularly DL X8 are almost impossible to buy anywhere, unless I come to SuperMediaStore.
And on top of everything, the prices here are lower without shipping charges most of the times.

Practically the only dual layer dvd to ever get

Verbatim is the brand to get when it comes to dual layer discs. I once purchased a pack of DVD-R DL and all the burns were coasters because of some issue with the way the disc was created. I attempted about 10 or so discs with the same results whereas the first Verbatim DVD+R DL was burned successfully. SuperMediaStore always has great deals on great products.

My lifelong saying of "Cheap, Cheap ain't Cheap in the long run" applies here also. If one spends a little more for a quality product the longevity of the item increases. In this instance, the chance of duds diminishes and would probably be directly related to operator error.

IMHO Verbatim is the best brand of dual layer blanks to buy. I've never burned a coaster using these. Don't try to save some $ buying cheaper, no-name brands because you'll be sorry. Been there, done that.

Finally, a DVD+RW DL That Works!

I probably have a finicky DVD writer (HP DVD=/-RW DL), but the only dual layer discs it will write to without errors are Verbatim. I used to get them at SAMS Club, but they've switched to Memorex and Memorex and my writer are not friends. I previously ordered (not from SuperMediaStore, some HP dual layer discs, which are rebranded Fuji's (I think). The other merchant wouldn't accept returns.
I've ordered from SMS for a few years now and have always been very satisfied with the prices, quality, delivery, and overall service. The only reason I gave 4 stars in price is that I used to get the Vebatims for under $1 a disc (from SAMS Club). Still, happy to get the Verbatims because they work.

The best dual layer dvd+r. I've had no problems with each burn- provided I burn at 2x speed- but I've done that from the beginning, so no coasters.

I've been using Verbatim's DVD+R DL discs for years now and never had a problem. They consistently burn correctly and provide for great playback of DVD movies. I've looked online and these discs are consistently touted as the best DVD+R DL media you can buy. SuperMediaStore is great in guaranteeing you get the kind made in Singapore and not the cheap ones made in India.

Quality seems good. I tried burning the discs with Toast 9 and 10 on 2 separate Macs (PowerPC- 10.4.11 and Intel- 10.6.4) and they both failed (though only 1 coaster was created). However, burning through the Finder/Disk Utility option gave me no problems, so it must be Toast's problem.
Took a little while to get the discs (they were back-ordered after I placed my order), but nothing too bad.
Price is a wee bit high, but for quality discs, also not too bad (at about $1.36 a piece- what I paid).
All research points to Verbatim as the best quality DL DVDR media.

These are the only brand of double layer discs that burn reliably in all my DVD burner drives. However, if you are wishing to save some money the "Titan" brand SuperMediaStore recently began selling are much cheaper but do burn reliably in SOME drives, and seem to read reliably in all drives if successfully burned. (Basically DVD+R DL is a terrible format and I personally have no desire to go to BluRay for data storage & backup given that the industry never made DVD+R DL work reliably ...)

I do a lot of DVD authoring, and these Verbatim Dual Layer DVDs are the best. I can burn them at 4X and never get a bad burn. Most other brands will only burn at 2.4X. And when thes go on sale, you can't beat the price. Quality and Price = Win Win!

I've had issues with other media in my MacBook Pro ('06) superdrive. This Verbatim media works every time, and the price was the best I found. Add free shipping and how can you go wrong? I've already used 6 of the pieces and haven't made any coasters.....

After you try the rest, why not only use the best. I have tried many other brands of DL media only to come back to Verbatim. I can not say that it is 100% error free, I can say that it is as close as you could be to !00% error free! It is the only brand that I now use for all of my DL burning needs.

I have tried several brands of dual layer media, but Verbatim has come out the winner. Never any problems, Even when I burn at 4x. It's rated higher, but you might run into problems any faster. Most other media is 2.4. I would rather burm at 4X and know I will get a good burn everytime. And when the 30 pak goes on sale, you can't beat that deal. It's a win/win situation.

SuperMedia.com has great service with their free ground shipping products that I purchse and price competativeness. Overall I rated you 4 out of a possible 5,because although your main products are based on media,it leaves a gray area for hardware products without the knowledge of them,meaning an option to recieve an online chat with you (supermedia.com)as the one to take the initiative.If that would change the price difference of your products and services in a negative fashion then I would rate my overall less than four.If it would not change the price with the same products and services I would rate a 5 out of 5 overall.Another words why ROCK THE BOAT if your(supermedia.com)is not ready for this challenge.Besides if it works for you it works 4 out of 5 stars for me!!!

Remember: Burn no faster than 4X and you will never have a coaster. It is that simple. If you want to burn faster, waste your money and buy faster disks for much greater price. Have had some of these burned over 3 yrs ago and still going strong.

I have read thousands of threads on many different Internet News Groups about Whats the best blank DVD media to use for making Backup of your movies or Wii Games and it seems to always come back to Verbatim unless Verbatim has thousands of Internet Representantives that go around posting to buy them, whuch is doubtful. They do keep the original quality of a movie when burning in Dual Layer mode thats why I use Verbatim and they also backup my Wii games very good and play just like the original. although these are not cheap I guess you have to pay a little extra for those special movies or games.

Tried a few other dual layer discs and these were the only ones that worked. I literally got 100% coasters on the others ;o... the avg pi errors were 220 on others and this one averages at 8-10, less than my single layer dvds!!

Will not burn at 8X

Up dated firmware and still won't burn at 8X. However will burn at slower speed 2-4X. Have not had any coasters or failures at this speed. As long as I know they will burn at 2-4X I can live with that. It took me awhile to figure this out. Have sent e-mail to Verbatim about this. No answer to date.
