The Taiyo Yuden DVD-R media is great, hardly any misses. Although a bit more costly then other brands or it's value brand. Great value for the items though, will certainly buy again. SuperMediaStore is good resource to find these discs and get them fast.

I have had great luck with these Taiyo Yuden discs, average of one coaster per 100, if that. This last batch of 100 has a 25% failure rate. Way too high. I'm hoping it's just a bad batch but if the next box doesn't return to the previous high level of quality, I'll look elsewhere.

I bought the Taiyo Yuden media on recommendation from http://adterrasperaspera.com/blog/2006/10/30/how-to-choose-cddvd-archival-media, and have had no burning issues with them so far (but I've only been using them for two weeks:-). Time will tell if they really hold up. SuperMediaStore delivered them promptly, and while Taiyo Yuden is more expensive than other brands, I believe they will be worth the extra money.

I have only used TY cdrs and dvdrs for the last decade. Never had a coaster or a disc fail me later. Why buy anything else. If it isn't TY made in japan, it's crap.
I've burned several thousands of discs for data backups at work and for my music trades and archiving of shows at home.

I have used about 3000 of these TY DVD-R discs with perhaps only 3 or 4 bad burns. They burn at 8x with over a 95% quality rating every time. I love the 100 year dye life because when I go to use the burned discs I'm confident the data is secure... always! If you value your data these are the discs to use. They never let you down.

I use these in DVD recorders. Specifically, my older, 2004-model Panasonic handles the slower 8x burn speed better, and after burning literally hundreds of discs, I think I've had maybe 3 or 4 coasters with TY media, all traceable back to problems with the original file on the DVDR's HDD, rather than the media itself. So far I haven't had any disc failures from dye breakdown or problems associated with long-term storage--an important issue when I'm archiving irreplaceable family camcorder footage, etc.
I've found the quality of TY DVD-R media every bit as good as Verbatim 8x DVD-R.
Most of the blank media you get now at big box retail stores is unreliable at best, especially in older standalone recorders (computer burners seem more forgiving). When the difference in price is between, say, 19 cents per disc from Big Box and 25-29 cents from Supermedia for TY (depending on quantity discount or sale price), it's literally penny-wise, pound foolish to use the cheap stuff.

I had to draw into service an old DVD recorder and it couldn't read the newer recorded dvds nor copy onto any of the media we had. The Macbook Pro spit out some of the non-brand names we had. This is the best stuff. Burned with Imgburn 6X on Samsung SH-S203b (SB04) and had only 628 PIF and a Quality score of 95. These are pretty consistent and will burn around this quality or even a little better.

I buy both the Taiyo CDs and DVDs from Supermedia store, and they are great. I like that they come in the cakebox, and not just shrink wrappped. I print on them with a Bravo II printer, and the reproduction is excellent. Duplication quality is top notch. I haven't had one "coaster" yet. I highly recommend these.

I have been using these for over 7 years. These are the best blanks out there. They are the most compatible disc and will play in anything. If I ever had a coaster it was something wrong on my end. I trust no other brand when it comes to SL blanks.

I've had frequent trouble with TDK recordable, and some but fewer coasters with HPs. I was frustrated but didn't want to order Taiyo Yuden because I didn't know the brand. Other reviews convinced me to try -- and the first 200 have been just terrific -- so I just order another batch.

I found out that some of my Sony brand DVDs were actually Taiyo Yuden. They always produced awesome results. I was never sure though when buying then Sony brand if they would always be Taiyo Yuden. When I found out that one can buy Taiyo Yuden brand then the choice was a no brainer. Taiyo Yuden are the best out there! I have tried all brands and others will agree, they keep ending up n the end with Taiyo Yuden. Hopefully they will never change their way of manufacturing.

I run a CD Speed write quality scan on every disc I burn - and with my Samsung DVD writer, these Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD+R discs give by far the best results. I tried all sorts of discs in the past, but I haven't bothered buying anything else since I discovered Taiyo Yuden a couple of years ago. Why settle for mediocre media when, for about the same price, you can have something that is an order of magnitude better? Discs I burned two years ago still scan as well as they did when I burned them - so maybe TY have longevity too.

Several years ago I bought a 100 pack of Taiyos for burning movies. I never had a problem with them. Then I ran out and bought some Verbatims. That was a huge mistake since my DVD player would not play them or would stop several times in the middle of the movies. So I bought Taiyos and once again, they work great. Even when I burn on my laptop at its' max speed of 8x vs 4x with the Verbatims, they work great.

I have less bad disk with this brand then any other. Only thing wrong was one of the cases broke in shipment. No damage to disk found. With my experience in shipping these disk it is better to order in 100 disk packs due to rough shipping most of the time cases get broke in shipment. 100 cases break disk less.

I've been using the Taiyo Yuden Premium 8X for about a year now. Perfect results. Never had a coaster from over 400 discs. Other brands can vary a bit with from a few to way too many bad ones.
I've used Verbatim which are also quite good. Sony which are usually very good. Memorex which I do not like at all.
Very satisfied withe the Taiyo on all counts. SuperMediaStore has always filled orders quickly and they've arrived in perfect shape.
I've not used the Taiyo value discs, they may be just fine. The extra few bucks to get one I know is trustworthy is worth it to me.
