First time using these. Did not realize how different the quality can be between low end DVD media and these. These actually recorded at higher than 16x on my plextor writer.
Also the printing of the label on inkjet was the first time I tried it and it worked great. Will probably stick with these DVDs for a while.

These hardcoat blanks are scratch resistant and fingerprints are easily removed. I wish they would package them on a spindle or cake a box.

Excellent for repelling scratches, but watch your burn speed.

The scratch-resistant coating on these work just as advertised, although it's only used on the writable side of the disc - the top is the standard thermal lacquer.
Don't trust your burner to automatically select the right speed. For me, Encore CS3 detected these as 18x, which led to some skips and jumps when playing back video. Dialing back to a slower burn speed fixed the problem.

Top Quality Taiyo Yuden DVD-R Product

These hardcoat 16X inkjet printable DVD-R discs are a quality product. My impression is that the white surface has a slightly smoother coating than the regular 8X white printable DVD-Rs I usually buy. The hardcoat functions as advertised, fingerprints come right off. Now if only TY would make a DVD-R that has both a hardcoat and a water resistant printable surface.

I always use taiyo dvd`s. In all the years that i have used them; i`ve never had a problem with them. I get a perfect burn everytime. You can`t do better than this.

I only use Taiyo Yuden dvd media and only from SMS. I have burned about 30 and not a single coaster. This is my second batch of hardcoat discs and I will be buying them again. The first batch were white top so I thought I would try these silver tops. While the burn quality seems to be exactly the same I prefer the white top.

Burns fine...does not play so well

I bought these thinking they would be awesome.They print great..They burn great.They just don't play very well. I am not sure if it is the hardcoating or what, but my Philips dvd player...DVP-3982? does not play well with them.There is a very long lag to loading..then it may say..disc error or no disc loaded. Same file on a cheapo memorex disc works fine...

These DVDs seem to be more reliable than brands I find in brick-and-mortar stores and are definitely cheaper. Delivery is fast enough that I don't regret not just driving the hour to the big box. I come back every time.

I love Taiyo Yuden DVDs, but the hardcoat have been a problem for me. Several people who received my DVD on this disc complained that it wouldn't play in their player. I have returned to the regular Taiyo Yuden DVDs.

Hardcoat vs Standard

This is my first purchase of hardcoat discs. I waited until I had burned about 30 out of the 100 to review them. I like them, they do seem to be more scratch resistant than standard discs. I only buy TY discs and have burned over 500 discs with VERY FEW coasters. Great service, great prices, fast shipping via UPS. I am VERY satisfied and will be back for more.

Almost perfect DVD-R hub printable blank media

I have used these hardcoat Taiyo Yuden blank DVDs over more than a year - the only "bad burns" are the ones I caused...but to be really perfect, these hardcoat DVDs should be married with the Watershield white DVDs' that T-U makes for JVC. Then it would be the perfect media, one that can withstand abuse and be washed if really messed up. Almost Kid Proof.

Excellent media, scratch proof, and burns @ 20X

One step above better quality media. Face prints professional looking graphics, Hardcoat on burn side protects data, and it burns fast (20X). I have loaded and printed 20 of these out of 100 and no coasters, all consistantly burn't at 20X with "Nero" and SH-S223Q Burner & printed professionally with Epson RX-580 printer.
