TY is quality media, and if you are wanting long term archival burns this is the first brand you should look at. Supermedia has prices on these that are no more than what you'd pay for inferior grade discs at Wal-Mart. With free shipping, I'd say it's a no-brainer.

The DVD is thicker that the ones that I have been using, which gives Casio title printer little hard time. The surface is too shiny, which looks fancy but hard to read. Overall, I am satisfied.

We use the disks in a multi-drive duplicator. Since the copy process must remain in synch across all drives, the media must be of a uniform high quality. With the Taiyo Yuden disks we are experiencing a very low reject rate, better than other brand we have used.

These are the best value priced CD-R discs available.

They burn fast and have had one or two out of 100 not pass validation. The discs were still readable but did not pass my burning application's validation. Excellent disc for the money. Spend your money on a quality disc rather than buy 50 more to make up for all the coasters from the other brands. These work great in my ASUS burner using Nero 8 Express.

Streaks on printed color image and not sure if it is a problem with media or printer

The reproduction on the media showed 100 quality, no C1 or C2 errors and jitter average of 7.4 when burned on MAC notebook computer from iTunes. Quality checked with Nero. I do have aproblem though. I am seeing several streaks running vertically on the printed image and I am not sure if the problem is the media or the HP Photosmart printer. I am wondering if specific inks or printer type is recommended for this type of CD media.

I've never been disappointed woth TY discs, never! Out of a 100 discs I may get 1 or 2 mis-burns but that's usually due to software/computer problems. And Supermediastore delivered in Superfast time! For me there's no need to go anywhere else!

Didn't work for what I needed them for....

Not saying they're not quality discs, just that they didn't work for what I intended them to be used for (burning dreamcast backups). Luckily I was able to pick up a cheap 50 pack of staples cd's on sale the next day to use.

Strangely enough the Dreamcast games burned just fine to cheap staples discs, but not to the TY's. Of course that could just be because the DC laser is notoriously picky about disc brands and burn quality. For example the settings I've successfully burned to staples discs with might need to be adjusted to burn to these TY discs... i dunno.

However every test burn attempt so far to play music discs in my car or store data have been 100% flawless, zero coasters. The only thing I don't like now is something that's my own fault and that's the silver lacquer finish... I usually write on discs with a sharpie and it looks strange without textured lines or surfaces to write on. I'm sure with a thermal printer however these discs would look fabulous.

Overall rating, 4/5 (mostly my own ignorance).

These discs blow away all other types. toss away those memorex discs or use then for christmas tree ornaments. burned about 25 music cd's and all play in my old jvc car unit. not so with other brands. very happy with price, comprable to other media but far superior. shipped right as promised. ups truck pulled up sa soon as i got home from work. all in all, very pleased.

I've Used them All and would NEVER use any other brand than Taiyo Yuden. I am just hoping or should say praying the name change to JVC does not mean outsourcing this superior blank media ending up with some cheaper product that takes even the smallest shortcuts. I like that these are made in Japan or at least my understanding is they still are. Personally I have never found them to be 4 or 5 bucks more expensive per 100 than the junk I've bought thinking I am saving some money getting the same quality. Supermedia always has sales on these and that is when I Buy them with FREE Shipping/No Tax! I am not lying when I say I have never had a coaster yet and I've used at least 1000 of these on the past 2 years. Sometimes My Mother is right, Pennywise Pound Foolish! I was really amazed by the quality of the prints I was able to achieve. The surface is literally like a sheet of glass, but holds ink extremely well.

A heads up to EPSON printer owners: I'm printing with an EPSON Stylus Photo 1400. I had a couple disks come out with black smudges on them. I think the print rollers are picking up some of the ink from the previous disc. Not sure though. I've been sending a few sheets of clean scrap paper through about every other disk I print in a long run to clean up the rollers. kind of annoying. Not sure if I should blame the media or the printer?
