Aside from audio work I do a lot of photography for various non profits and recording artists. Although these CD-Rs are used primarily for recording I also use these CDs for photo image files as the error rate for Taiyo Yuden is something I rely on.

As for Super Media Store, they have great prices and excellent customer service.

These CD blanks are very trustworthy. I've not had a dud in duplication. The only improvement I suggest is more "air bag" cushioning during shipment. Although arriving ultimately undamaged, it appears that there was much product movement inside the box during its rough ride in the truck getting to me.

We haven't used any other CDs but these for a few years now. Previous brands didn't perform as well and it was not uncommon to get individual CDs that failed. With the Taiyo Yuden, we've yet to have a single failure, and we use approximately 10 a week (times approximately 8 years).

I was very unhappy with my purchase. I wanted printable CDs and they were not. There was NO customer service at all. I spent a great deal of time on hold trying to talk to someone. I basically lost my money and have a product I don't want. I could send them back but it would cost me shipping and restocking fee. I would rather do business with a company that had good customer service.

Taiyo Yuden - Even Silver Discs Meet the Gold Standard

Taiyo Yuden is the gold standard for CD-R. Since we switched to them several years ago, I can't remember having any recording failures. Still too early to tell how they'll hold up in the long-term archives, but so far, I haven't had any trouble reading the oldest discs. Linkyo provides quick service, and generally have low prices for this sort of item.

When it comes to media, there is no substitute for reliability. Every other brand I have tried produces coasters. I go to play a movie and it freezes up. I look at the disk and see a little bubble in the coating. I have made hundreds and hundreds of Taiyo Yuden without producing a coaster. Nuf said.

I have a small home recording studio so I try to get the best for the least. Taiyo Yuden fills this requirement. Research tells me CDs from Japen are better than from elswhere. I'm not sure about this but I haven't had any problems with these CDs. I get them from Super Media Store. They are shipped quickly and packaged well.

Taiyo Yuden blank media are the way to go for all your burning needs. Be wary of supermediastore however. It took two weeks to get my order of CDRs. After an email to their customer service site I was told it was my problem. They couldn't have cared less. They wouldn't even look into it. As I said, great product - poor support.

I almost didn't get these from Supermedia, even though I always bought them here in the past. I don't like the new shipping policy. They used to give free shipping on these. Now you have to buy more than $50 to get free shipping. I only wanted 1 cake box of 100 cdr's. With even 2 cake boxes of totaling 200 cdr's I was still under $50. I was not going to buy 3 cake boxes. I waited and waited to see if I could get free shipping on just the two. I don't know how, but after about a week, I did get the free shipping. I don't know if that was a glitch or how I got it.

The product was as advertised and delivered on-time. The shipping box was damaged severely, as if it had been dropped from the height of a two-story building. It was obviously broken open and taped back together into a misshapen mass. The cakebox package inside, a particularly flimsy soft plastic one, was damaged and open but the disks themselves had seemingly not been damaged and I had an empty cakebox on-hand so I didn't return them.

I've never thought much of FedEx and I think even less of them now.

My usual ordering sources no longer carried these discs so it was good to find them at SuperMedia. Also, even though JVC is the new owner I was glad to see that the disc info still showed the mfg. as Taiyo Yuden.
This was my first order with SuperMedia. The order processing was smooth and fast. The standard delivery was a bit disappointing. The FedEx tracking showed that my package just sat for a couple days at one of the depots.

Other cheap brands - even name brands - are losing data after 6-12 months resulting in clicks and pops when playing the music. The Taiyo Yuden's have not had any problems and I highly recommend them.

Sonically they are the closest to the original when duplicating. Maxell Pro Discs are these Taiyo's with their logo. They are the best sounding.... period and the price is right.

I didn't know Taiyo Yuden was also JVC so I was a little worried when I opened the box and saw "JVC," but now I see that they are Taiyo Yuden.

Anyway, the service and prices are always good as SuperMedia store.

But, I get way too many emails, I don't like the packing peanuts, and I didn't get the Black Friday price or told that there would be a Black Friday price after I ordered these. I know everything is online, but I thought that was pretty lame. I bought them the day before and paid $7 more. Often, companies will say, but it tomorrow and it'll cost less or give you the discount anyway.

Besides the above listed complaints, I'm happy with SuperMedia store.

Be careful when handling the "Cake Box".

These disc seem to record without a problem and being JVC/TY quality, they come from a reputable source, though I have to admit, I've only recorded 2 disc so far.
The problem I've had is the cake box. This is a new design and if you are not careful in closing the box accurately there will be consequences. I thought the base and top were closed accurately, but when I picked them up by the top to move them, the base and spindle dropped and disc went everywhere, so be careful when handling after closing.

I have been burning CD/DVDs for at least 18 years. Unfortunately my CD/DVD burns were not always performed using top quality media. Trying to access some of my early burns shows that inexpensive (cheap) disks have been unreliable for retaining my precious data. I have been using only Taiyo Yuden Premium disks for the last 6 years with outstanding success for the burns (I can't remember a single burn failure). Only time will tell about the Extreme Long Term data retention of the Taiyo Yuden disks, but based on my successful burn record with them ... I do not anticipate any problems. Quality does pay.

I've been buying these continuously from Supermedia for a couple years. Now I'll have to look to see if there is a better source. 1. The cake box was not the right size. The spool is not long enough to fit into the hole in the top of the plastic container. Because of this the spool of CD's wobble within the container. I currently use the cake box to store my cd's after burning and now am concerned that I can't use this cake box for that purpose. 2. Because of the previous issue, I studied the numbers on the hub of the cd's to see if the reason I got a poorly fitting cake box was because the product was changed or not the one's I previously purchased. I did confirm the numbers don't match. So now I'm not even sure if I have the same CD's I've purchased every few months. 3. Most importantly, the price has risen substantially since my last purchase. Unfortunately I didn't look for a better price until I already payed for these. There are competitors selling these cheaper than Supermedia. This concerns me, since the reason I started buying from Supermedia is because not only do they have excellent customer service, but they always had the best prices. In summary, when these run out, I'll be forced to take a hard look at other outlets for my needs.

A friend recommended these discs saying he never has a bad burn. So I paid a little more for them, and right off the bat the first disc failed. After that it was literally every one that failed. I think I finally got 2 in a row and then back to the same old error message. I would not buy these again, but maybe it's just my computer...I do like the way they look though!

Taiyo Yuden CD's are great for professional recordings. I have had very few bad CD's. In all my purchases of this brand about 1 out 100 will be bad. I tried other brands before Taiyo Yuden and had a large percentage of bad CD's in each batch.

I have never had a failed burn because of the of the media. It provides very accurate reproductions. I am old school, the slower the burn the better, at least for audio. IMHO. And now that JVC has taken over, I hope any issues with the DVD-Rs Taiyo had will be resolved. As far as CD-R media, there is nothing better.

Quality was what was expected with TY media. I was wondering what quality would be like since TDK is involved with TY in some way. Quality is excellent as TY always is. Very good scans with Nero DiscSpeed scanned with BenQ 1650.

1) Fast transaction, nothing to complain about the shipping time as it was free (by ground in USA).

2) 1 of the 100 pcs cake box was opened & the centre spindle was dislocated when I received my package. As I was using a forwarding service (for delivery outside USA) so I dont know who is at fault here. Had to throw away 4 pcs as they were scratched.

3) Minor negative point is the silver laquer/label side that is quite a finger print magent. Perhaps I will get the white printed ones in the future.

4) I have burnt 14 CD-R & none were coasters. Used Nero DiscSpeed to check 1 of them & the burnt quality is very high at 97/100.

I'd been getting some CRC data errors with a discount store's economical brand CD-R discs. Researching, the conclusion was to try a lower burning speed and higher quality media, the media I was using much criticized on the web, hence purchasing Taiyo Yuden. These CD-R discs are great! Having burned about 20 discs thus far, no errors. And you know what? SuperMediaStore's price, per disc of such quality, is significantly lower than the cheapest media at your local discount store, including shipping, which was free, anyway. I'm very pleased with SuperMediaStore!

But my big gripe with you and TY is environmental impact--please use something other than styrofoam peanuts for packing material--other companies use recyclable paper or cardboard. And TY should start using recyclable plastic for their cake box enclosure.
