packing material very low quality, package was dropped and air bag thing popped, and then the plastic case on these disc's cracked.
The dvd's looked to be fine however so i just used them. First 2 disc's burned ok but would cause discspeed to "fail to lock drive" i couldn't figuer out why and then i realize the disc's must be so badly damaged, as only these 2 disc's would do it. But to the eye they appeared flawless so w/e.
anyways, all the rest of the disc's have been scoring around 94-95 in discspeed, with around 200-300 PIE's resulting in over 2 million errors total which is kind of crazy and then the PIF's are going up to about 10 and i can't remember offhand but somewhere around 3-4k total errors.
so i get disc's that show 94-95 which would lead one to believe its a good disc but then i go and try to play it and end up with some problems there as well.
Overall im finally going to switch brands, most likely try those aqua's from vibatim and the packaging from here was really bad so no more media from this place

My printer is great for printing photographs, however, when I printed a picture on a disc I was stunned. The reproduction of a picture on these discs is just amazing. I've never printed on a disc before. Why? I've got a marker pen, that's good enough. Now I know what I've been missing. The discs are great.

The best surface for printing, High quality recordings, Taiyo Yuden the best overall media. One suggestion is to make the recording surface of the disc out of the same material Blue Ray Disc's are, a none scratch surface.

Amazing the discs survived. The bubble wrap used was not nearly enough. You should be ashamed SMS. I've used your services for some time now. I'm very disappointed. The discs had a lot of space to move around.

I have gone through 200 of these disks and have experienced no failures. The print surface is astounding. It is dry as the printer ejects the disk. I am using a Hewlett Packard Photosmart D5300 ink jet. In the past the matte surface didn't allow the ink to dry causing colors to run and ultimately some of the colors changed with time. The images and text with the Taiyo Yuden water shield printable disks are sharp and hold their colors.

I used the ones that were not watershield before, and if you rub a slightly oily finger on them months after printing, they will easily smudge. So glad I found these.
I had a client send me some sports DVDs to cut some language out. I sent him the edited versions and destroyed the originals. I scanned the originals and simply printed the images onto these discs.
When he received them, he asked me if these were the edited ones or not. He hadn't seen the originals for a few weeks and didn't know the difference!
The finish is what sells these discs. They don't look inkjet printable at all - before or after printing. They are simply amazing, and the extra cost is so minuscule. Plus there's no branding.

Great finish for photos. Much better than their semi-gloss which I will not use again. I choose to burn at 8X and not 16X. Using ProShow Producer, my duplicator burned a 20 disc order at 16X and they all failed. I reburned at 8X and they all played great.

I bought these Water Shield printable discs for special occasions when sending discs to clients. Now I am using them exclusively. The Water Shield surface accepts ink jet ink better than the mat surface. The results look commercial quality and of course they are resistant to smearing in the face of moisture.

Taiyo Yuden disks are the best and are error free. I pay a little more for the water shield disk but they are worth it. I print my disks almost all the time with photos and text and the finished quality is the best. Sue beats the old days of printing labels and affixing them to the disk only to have them mess up your drive.

I burn/print lots of DVDs (legally - not copyrighted). A problem that I have is that with my water-soluble ink the printed side smears if it gets wet, and users sometimes like to clean the disc with water, not knowing (or forgetting) that the printed side is not water-friendly. These Water-shield discs are great! I've only used 4 so far, but all burned well and to check out the waterproofing I ran a couple under the spigot. No problem. PLUS - they look much better (sharpness and gloss) than the conventional printed discs. I'll be buying more of these.

Read the reviews indicating that this media form is most likely to be cross compatible with various DVD burners. Did not work with my Sony. Very disappointing. Why can't the DVD industry standardize a format so that all burners work with all blank media?

The product quality of these discs is outstanding! They print with a polished "pro look" on an Epson Artisan 810.
However, since SuperMedia has changed their shipping service, the FREE S&H now takes longer. I would consider paying a few dollars (2-5) more in order to get my order sooner than later.

I have been using the Watershield DVDs from Taiyo Yuden for a few years now. The glossy surface works well in the inkjet printer. Unlike paper labels they really are waterproof. Plus there is no label to fall off in the future, or balance issues when your media is spinning at high speed. I fully recommend this product.

These Discs cost a little bit more, but the printing surface is beautiful. The print comes out Glossy like a photograph, unlike other Inkjet printables that look dull or lifeless. These look fantastic. Also the Quality of the media is the best around, you can't ask for a better media to record on. Taiyo Yuden is the best media manufacturer around. An outstanding and rock solid product.

These come out with better clarity and sharper images. They are well worth the difference in price. One thing that I haven't been able to control is the over bleed, that I can take off manually. If anyone knows a better answer, please advise.

I love the look of the glossy Watershield DVDs. THey are the only thing I use when needing to ink jet label discs. Great look and good dry time. Taiyo Yuden is the best brand in my opinion... wish they made a lightscribe disc tho.

So far this has been very compatible with various DVD players. The glossy finish looks great (when printed with an inkjet) and it is definately water and fingerprint proof but only after it has dried overnight. For years I've been coating all my injet printed DVDs with a Krylon clear spray meant for protecting artist drawings but that is a lot of work and I'm very happy that I no longed need to do that thanks to this fantastic product. Its expensive but worth every penny.

I have found these to be the best DVD's. My Epson printer prints directly onto the surface of them and the glossy surface makes them look very professional. Love Water Shield for no ink smearing, waiting for TY to combine with Hard Coat

I've used hundreds of these with no coasters. I use an Epson inkjet printer to label my disks and the Water Shield is perfect for absorbing the ink without smearing. I also love TY Hard Coat technology to decrease scratches and fingerprints on the burned side, but since I currently have to choose between Water Shield and Hard Coat, I go with Water Shield. I keep waiting for TY to combine Water Shield with Hard Coat. That would be a great combination.

I purchased a set of 10 DVD-R from W-mart.
I took them home and test all 10 on my Panasonic DVD Player/Recorder. 5 had problems; 5 were alright.
So far I have not experienced any problems with these DVD's for both video use (movies, etc) and computer use (burned Ubuntu 10.10 iso on DVD).

I've used both the CD and DVD versions of this product and I have complete confidence in them. I love these and they come out just great with my Epson Artisan 710. No coasters in the entire spindle. My only minor complaint is that the outer half millimeter of printing surface wont hold ink so your left with a very fine white stripe around the outside. However, it is very thin and not really noticed unless you're looking for flaws. Now, please make some DVD-R DL and Blu-Ray Watershields!

Taiyo Yuden is probably the best DVD media for any price. The durability of recordings are outstanding. They have outlasted a few other brands which have somehow become unreadable over the years. Taiyo is reliable, I have yet to come across a bad disc, and I've burned a couple hundred. This water shield disc is also the finest surface for printing. Though it dries really fast, it has a glossy finish that looks like it's still wet. It's like comparing photo paper to regular printing paper. Ink jet ink doesn't run, like the name suggests. I've tried to even wash off the ink with soap and water. The ink held unbelievably well. If you have to record something important or want to impress a client, this is the media to get.

These are by far the best blank dvd's you can buy. I have burned well over 5,000 of these and have only had a hand full of coasters and most of them were my fault if not all of them. I make a lot of disks for business and family usages where both quality and durability are important. The water resistance is VERY important if the disks are going to be exposed to small children. The glossy surface makes an EXCELLENT print resolution. Very sharp and crisp printing. My clients just LOVE the result. A little more expensive for the media, but a good choice when the job needs it. I've had the best luck with the TY's on compatibility with various players. I also do all my burns with imgburn in verify mode and out of several hundred burns I've had possibly one bad burn but I might be remembering a burn with a different media so perhaps a perfect record so far. Worth the extra money for the nice printing surface as well which works well on my Epson Artisan 800.

I like these disks because they always work and I also love how the printing comes out on the glossy white side. The images look high quality. They cost a little more, but I do not want to use inferior disks for my movies and buy a pack every once in awhile when on sale. I've only had a couple bad disks out of hundreds that I've used.

The Watershield TYs are expensive, and I've never purchased them...but this time I needed printable DVDs and didn't want to spring for a 100 (even in RiData, which I've had problems with), so I got this 50 pack. The Watershield surface blew me away: glossy and extending all the way to the hole, which made it PERFECT for the intended use: a JPG remembrance of a summer camp. The surface extending to the hole made the use of pictures as a background MUCH better and the glossy surface made the image clearer and more detailed. The media itself is, of course, flawless as with all TY products. In spite of the price, I'll be buying these again.

Definitely a favorite, love the shiny surface. Sometimes when you print all the way to the middle it will smudge and look weird, but its by far the best DVD ive found thats very professional looking.

Intrigued with the reviews of this product I purchased a 50 pack of both dvdrs and cdrs not too long ago. When the first one came out of my Epson ink jet printer (loaded with the no-name replacement ink I've been buying from Supermedia.com for years)I was blown away. The quality is EXCELLENT!. The best way I can describe it is the text and images look like they're "under glass".
I admit the sixty cents each that it works out to, is a bit pricey, but it's well worth it, the expression on my clients faces (Audio and Video production) when they see it makes it well worth the cost.A past review stated it took his ptoduct to the next level presentation-wise, Man, was he right.
I've been ordering from Supermedia.com going on 10 years, and in that time had but one compatibility issue concerning blank media, which was taken care promptly, courteously, and professionaly, being local doesn't hurt either, I order before noon Mon thru Thurs and it's on my doorstep the next following day.
Surfice it to say I am very, very happy with the Taiyo Yuden Water Shield dvds/cds, again the reviews were right on.

Great glossy DVD prints

Shipping was very slow... came from Cal. to Fl., What can I say though.. FREE SHIPPING! Ordered on a Wednesday and got to me on the following Tuesday, with six possible UPS shipping days. Was supposed to be in 4 days. If you are using free shipping, don't be in a hurry need for them. First time I have tried these, have been using Memorex white matte (which came out dull on my prints)These are very glossy and look great, almost a little too glossy but look really-really great. So far so good. I ordered a 50pk and next time will probably order a 200 pk.

If you are looking for the 'true' water-shield disks of TY days, these are your safest bet. Cheaper models from JVC have the dreaded 'orange-peel' look. There are no differences from the previous TY packs I already had from last year. Still a bit pricey bit you get what you pay for.

I have had a lot of trouble with watershield disks being rejected by my burner/printer. As soon as I started using the Taiyo Yuden, those problems when away. A bit more expensive, but substantially more reliable. And the printed disks look fantastic.

Excellent delivery and shopping experience. This time I needed them real quick and had tried another supplier because at first SMS was out of stock, but when the other supplier delayed my order to check back my address I came back to SMS and still got them one day sooner than expected.
I love this product, the quality is great, though now that they are JVC owned I think the disc is thiner (maybe it's just my imagination). Having gone thru several hundred of them I have had just a couple of defective discs.
The price is somewhat high, compared to non-water proof media.

I agree with those who love the glossy printed label.
I read reviews before I ordered these; and was concerned about a couple of negative reviews regarding problems printing with an Epson. I have seen only perfectly beautiful prints on my first 8-10 discs printed. 'Love the professional looking finished disc.
The only drawback is the high price of these discs.
Because of the high price, I have ordered the slightly less expensive semi-gloss discs. I made the plunge and, sight unseen, ordered 100 each of the dvds and cds. I hope this will not be a disaster.

Taiyo Yuden make the best CDs & DVDs, but you have to pay more for their quality. Occasionally, there may be a bad batch or lot, but overall you cannot buy better optical recording media.

I loved the look of them. I had several bad DVD's so far, but it could be my software or hardware problems. So I don't want to blame it on the Discs yet. The print is so professional looking that even if there are some bad discs, I would still buy them.

For the price of these dvds I am not impressed with the quality! I purchased 300 Taiyo Yuden Water Shield Glossy White Inkjet Hub Printable 16X dvds several months ago and most had small scratches on the outer edge within the printable area (not a problem if you don't fill up your dvds - but I do). I thought maybe I got a bad batch so I ordered another 300 dvds (april 2010) and they were the same way even though they now say JVC Taiyo Yuden Water Shield White Inkjet Hub Printable 16X. The scratched dvds seem to play OK but I hate giving customers scratched dvds! I wish Verbatim made a glossy HUB printable dvd in 16X!!!

My grandchildren are not neat with their DVDs, and have ruined several backups by spilling food on them. No problems after using this washable DVD-R media! Also, I've never had a coaster that wasn't my own fault. For any DVD exposed to a messy environment, these can't be beat. If the price were a little lower, I'd be even happier.

They printed beautifully! Other shiny surfaced DVD's I have used had a nice surface but seemed to be thicker than a normal disk and sometimes hung-up on ejection. I have had very good success on recording and printing with these disks. I would highly recommend them to anyone that desires a very professional looking finished product.

I only buy Taiyo Yuden's now for burning on my pc. These water shield ones print up really nice. I like the silver hub printable ones also. A little like lightscribe but in color. I haven't had any issues at all with super media store, so I keep coming back.
