Great media, ImgBurn thinks it is rated at 20X but I have been manually setting to 16X and not a bad burn yet. Ordered 200, burned about 50, so I am very happy. Only wish they made dual layer so my backups would not have to be split into so many DVD's. Delivery was prompt and these bulk packaged disks were well protected.

You can't go wrong with Taiyo Yuden media from SuperMediaStore.com. I've tried a lot of different brands but now stick with the Taiyo Yuden for quality and dependability. The DVDs work well in every application. My only complaint would be that the discount for multiple purchases does not go down much when you buy in larger bulk totals (like if you buy 1000) this seems especially true for CD-R purchases.

No label or print on side, which side is up?

Price is good, but if I cant figure out which side is up since there is no writing on the side up side, other dvd's have the brand name and dvd-r which shows which side is up, this figuring out which side I should put down, I won't buy this again : ( Just being honest.

I've burned thousands of discs in the past decade plus. Many, have been a royal PIA, they are slow, they don't burn and if they do, they won't verify.

Taiyo Yuden DVD-R have been the most reliable and consistent discs I've used and I seldom have a problem either writing or during verify. I can't say that with any other discs.

I read about these before I purchased them but took a chance on these and i struck out. Many people online have mentioned that these are bad quality "value line" is not the same as "premium line" avoid these at all cost !
I wanted to return the order when i ordered these but I was too lazy to do it hoping that these are good quality, but as soon as I tried to backup a ps2 game and tried to backup a dvd the were glitching and had pausing and freezing errors with these. I went with verbatim 8x never had a problem with those.

I've probably only used a dozen or so of these, but of those, two haven't even been recognized by the computer when I insert to burn. I burned some successfully and they worked, for a while. On a few I found out a week later that the data had become corrupted since burning. I haven't tested all of them yet, so I don't even know if any of them are still working. It isn't my specific computer, since we have three in the house and the behavior is the same on all of them. I will probably give Taiyo Yuden one more try, but if the nest batch has these problems I'll have to look for another brand.

I have been using TAIYO UDEN Value Line DVD-Rs for years, and they have always worked flawlessly. Since moving under the JVC brand, there has been no exception.
My only concern is that I can only buy these in 100pk spindles when they
are less than $20! If supermediastore.com could lower their price on these
wonderful recordable media to $20 all the time, I'd buy a spindle a month guaranteed!

Combing top value plus a top price should put SMS over the top IMHO!

I've bought several packs of Taiyo Yuden Silver Thermal Lacquer 16X 4.7GB DVD-R Media (Value Line) 100 Pack in Tape Wrap, and they've almost all worked. Less than one
in a hundred a was dud.

I ordered one a bit ago, I was advised that Super-Media
was out of the product, so please be patient.

Then the next day, I got a message saying that my order
had been filled, after all.

When the disks came, they were not the usual tape-wrap.
They were in a cake box. SuperMedia had substituted a
silver top high quality box rather than to delay my
order.

In fact, my order came in right on the day it was
supposed to come in on. I got the better product,
at the same time, and not delayed.

I ordered another hundred fairly shortly after that,
because they were on a bit of a sale, and I wanted to
get some more so I wouldn't have to order for a while.

Those were the shrink tapes.

I have always been more than satisfied with the shrink
tape bundles. The difference is that all of the 'real
thing' disks have so far offered me 18X, while the shrink
tape ones will go from the very occasional dud to 8X to
18X, and everything in between.

Since I always burn them at 8X anyway, I'm a happy
camper.

I've had lots of problems with other data disks, but this is my third order of the Taiyo Yuden writable DVD's. They are solid! I haven't had one problem with burning or reading the files I usually find "corrupt" on my other DVD media. Better than Memorex thats for sure. Delivery was quick and on time. I haven't had a bad disc yet, and about 1/3 of the way through my spindle. A big plus is that a Sharpie writes just fine on these disc when labeling. I can get a cheaper price by a few dollars if I watch my sales, but I believe these are better quality discs. I will be back for more of these I am sure.

My ONLY complaint is that the discs had a single layer of bubble wrap around them. The box was loosely packed with styrofoam peanuts which allowed the discs to move around inside finally resting on the bottom (which appeared to have been dropped).

Fortunately, the discs were not damaged.

UPS (the delivery service) has a reputation for tossing, dropping or otherwise not exactly being careful. Maybe an extra layer of bubble wrap would help . . .

since my early days of dvd burning I was told that Taiyo Yuden is the way to go...I got a ton of coasters from some Imation discs (if memory serves me well) and I decided that price be damned, I'm getting quality media...the only burn errors I got were generally due to my own error (running too many programs or computer rebooting while burning or some such thing) and when you count up cheap disc coasters, the cost per disc for these are just as cheap...not to mention that although its only been a few years, every time I go back to rip (or watch, or listen) to a disc, the info is still readable...some discs have been treated roughly and still work, and the ones that don't are due to poor handling and storage...basically I am responsible for any issues I have encountered with these discs and not the brand or disc itself...for best results, take your time, burn at a slow speed, and don't run a bunch of crap while you burn...you probably can, but you shouldn't...the same goes for any media really, but I imagine you can get away with more BS while burning these than your average el cheapo brand...also, these are cheaper than buying in a local store as is, so that's definately a plus...the free shipping is a nice feature offered here as well...what's not to love???

Usually a batch of 100 is as good as premium line same brand (zero failures), but occasionally a batch of 100 has a 2-3% failure rate. Other brands have often had a higher % failure rate. Usually the box it comes in is intact but occasionally a corner or side is caved in. More or better packing material around the product would be good; the boxes themselves could be a higher gauge cardboard.

First of all the price and service at supermediastore is unmatched. Second I was a little hesitant at first about buying "seconds", but the value line media are just as good as the regular. This media is solid so far. I have been using the premium line to date, and still prefer the premium line for the small additional cost. Value line is as good as most other mfg premium labels, just not as good as their own inhouse premium line.

I had to make 4 attempts to burn the last project. 3 discs failed between Sectors 1900000 and 2020000 on verify.

Out of the last spindle I've had 15 fail, so far. I still have 30 to go.

I've used these for more than 2 years, now I don't know where to go.

Before the product had the JVC logo on it, The Taiyo Yuden name was like 96 good out of 100. Now we are at 55 good out of 70. I don't have the time to re-burn so much.

I am burning at anywhere from 12x to 16x using ImgBurn using a Pioneer DVR-116D.

I'm a longtime user of Sony-branded DVD-R and have sworn by them. Now with almost 1 TB of "stuff" to backup, I went looking for bulk discs. With a little research (Manufacturer's code, etc.) found that these Taiyo Yuden's are the same disc (or close enough for rock 'n roll). Nearly 50 discs into the burn and not a coaster yet. And at a better price than I ever get the Sony-branded ones for at retail.

Only downside was that once I placed order and opened an account, a "special sale" email arrived a week later with a coupon to get the same discs for about $4/100 cheaper... Ahh well. Otherwise, would have been 5s across the board.

I use 16x discs and burn at 8x, and my last order of discs featured this problem in both of my burners. I didnt realize this was a shrink wrapped tower of disks. That was perfectly fine too, just unwrapped the tower and sat them down on the empty spindle from the previous stack. Great way to save money and get a good quality product.

i will never get the wrapped blank dvds again because there are at least 25% defected ones like as if it was a compliation of blanks from broken packages that were put together to make the 100 wrapped pack at the low sale price that convinced me to buy it. I've never had a bad burn with Taiyo Yuden and they work years after they have been burned. Some lesser brands seem to have a problem and won't play after some time has passed. Taiyo Yuden remain playable indefinitely. You can't go wrong with these discs. A bit more expensive but definitely worth it.

I have wasted time and money trying to find a manufacture that made a quality Lightscribe DVD disk. There is not one on the planet. I have enough "coasters" from bad batches of Lightscribe disks from different manufactures to put on a banquet. So, I just ordered these TAIYO YUDEN "value line" disks and WALA 100% recognition and burning - I am back to labeling disks by hand, but at least I am out of the "coaster" business! I think that TAIYO YUDEN "value line" is superior to most manufactures #1 line.

Two stars for the product. On video burns at 8x: acceptable sharpness, acceptable sound, poor contrast and poor color/grayscale accuracy. Test software reveals very high P1 and P2 scores - 5-10 times higher than typical P1 and P2 scores generated by JVC TY +R 8x silver backs - plus one or more P1 spikes that go off the chart.

I have only used a few disk so far. But I am really impressed. I always had issues every so often with the ending of movies skipping and pausing. I even burnt those movies slow like 8x and 4x.
Those days seem to be behind me. I gave these a shot and I have been burning at 16x and they play flawlessly.

I think Taiyo Yuden has made there name well know in the States and should drop the Shenanigans with the JVC Name. Just my 2 cents. These have the center hole filled in with silver. I think it looks nicer than the old style with the center hole being see through.

I liked the fact that the top of the dvd was plain; no advertising. I thought the tape around the outside was a bit difficult to get off but at least it helped to prevent unnecessary use of a lot of plastic by not having the spindle.

Better by far than Memorex, Verbatim, or Amazon Basics - all of these have proved unreliable, and picky about which recorder they're used in. These JVC/Taiyo Yuden discs have worked perfectly in three different recorders so far, and their plain appearance is a blessing - easy to write on, no printed drivel obscuring areas of the disc. I must say, Sony, TDK and Maxell have always worked well for me too, but not at this price! These discs can't be beat, and if I start to run low, I'll be re-ordering. Delivery was fairly quick, too.

Afterthought: If having a solid plastic container with a spindle matters to you, you might not be happy; only the shrink wrap holds these together. This doesn't matter to me.

These work great. If not for the wrapper saying it's the value line I would not be able to distinguish it from the premium Taiyo Yuden line. The disc codes are the same.

The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is because the mfr didn't give it the premium rating. The price is good, but I always want lower so I gave it a 4.

Delivery - They emailed me the UPS tracking number within 3 hours of me placing the order. That impressed me, and that's not easy to do since I have high expectations when I spend my hard earned money.

Value Line Taiyo Yuden are not the cheapest dvds there are, but close to it and still have as good of quality as much move expensive ones. I have bought a lot of different brands and price levels and this one has the best quality to price ratio that I could find.

I come to supermediastore and Taiyo Yuden for all my blank media needs and they never disappoint. So rarely do I receive a "bad disc" or a "coaster" that I consider non-existent with this media. Sony's have plummeted down hill and I've got spindles of Verbatims with as many as 12 bad discs per 100 pack, but Taiyo Yuden never disappoints. The #1 in quality media.

I burn alot of DVD's and tried many different brands. Most are great,except for Memorex, Verbatim, Sony, TDK, Imation,and recently the best priced with excellent quality are the Ridata I purchased from Supermedia. So when I seen these Taiyo Yuden on sale and heard they were the best, I bought them.

So far I have burned ten DVD's and six are no good. The pixels are distorted, the sound and picture quality are poor and it freezes repeatedly.

Maybe it's this VALUE PACK, the low end of the Taiyo Yuden line, I don't know but I am returning these DVD's
and sticking with my tried and trues.

When I received my dvd media I was disappointed to see that the disks were unmarked as to brand. I was very skeptical that these were Taiyo Juden. Don't be fooled by the price. I used the first 4 of these and 2 of them were very poor quality on playback so I returned them. The Taiyo Yuden (without the JVC label) are better. They were out of stock on those, so I found some on e-bay. An advanced user. I still like Supermediastore.com, just need to be more selective.

If you're out to use blank DVDs, you will never find any better than JVC Taiyo Yuden discs. I've used THOUSANDS of these discs and have only had one or two discs come back as just flat out bad discs. I have NEVER had a Taiyo Yuden disc "crash" on me and make the data hard to extract. The only complaints people can make about these discs are the shine top being "smudge heavy", where finger prints are viable easily, but if you're handling the discs the way they are supposed to, by the outer ring, this is not an issue. The other issue is the lack of stacking ring with the value line. A VERY easy solution for this is to just save your stacking ring from another brand of blank disc. If you are looking for quality blank discs, this is the brand to get

Out of 200 of the disc I have used so far I had to through away about 25 to 30 discs because there was an error detected on the last part of the disc. I later noticed that the discs had some kind of a sticky substance on the edge of the disc and I think it is from the packaging. In order to not waste any time I try to look at all the discs and wipe down any substance that our on the discs. I hope you can remedy this problem for this is not good.

These DVD's seem to write correctly each time. I had used another brand and 1 in 5 disks seemed to be a coaster.

Interestingly I recently started using a DVD presenter piece of software and the dialog box for burning DVD's recommends Taiyo Yuden.

I had to give 4 stars for price because after getting 200 8X DVD -R for $45 I was able to buy 200 Phillips 16X DVD -R for $40. Everything else is 5 stars, and always is when I buy from SMS.

I've purchased about 1000 of these TY Value Line discs and had less than 1% failure rate. Practically all of my purchases are used to create backups of movies on my PC. Even when I had both of my DVD burners fail, and made me think the DVD's were bad, SMS let me return the DVD's for replacement.

I have total confidence when buying here. If I'm not satisfied the staff will make me glad I bought from them one way or another. They are a class act that is very hard to beat, in price or customer service.

Taiyo Yuden DVDs work. I know that sounds a bit flip, but with all the complaints I see about DVDs making frequent "coasters" I can truly say that I don't get a bad DVD in 100. I've used about 400 of these, and have had maybe three bad ones, and I have no way to prove it was the DVD's fault. I paid a little more for Taiyo Yuden, compared to what was "on sale" because of their reliability.

I purchased 200 of these value priced JVC Taiyo Yuden DVD's due to the price and high burning speed. I have not had any problems with them at all. Although they don't have a writing surface as you would find on most retail DVD-r's , distinguishing top/bottom of the disk is easy (dark purple dye is bottom, silver is top). High reliability of JVC Taiyo Yuden at the cheapest price around the net! Not to mention, they're high speed 16X!

They were very promptly shipped to me and well packaged to prevent damage to the discs. I am going to continually buy from this seller and buy this product!

I have ordered 3 previous spools of Taiyo Yuden media. It is excellent, I have not had even ONE disc error out. It records and plays well on my computer, my dvd players and all units I have played these in. Taiyo Yuden is very popular in Japan and I have tried ALL of the name brands out there...this is by far the best. I was skeptical with the name, "JVC" in front of Taiyo Yuden, which I normally bought from SuperMediaStore, but I decided to try them. The actual "JVC" Disc is thinner than than the original "Taiyo" but the quality is the same. So, if I need more DVD media in the future, both JVC and Taiyo will be my first choice.

I had been having failure rates of 1 in 5 or 1 in 4 on the major brands offered at the Big Box stores or the office supply stores, and Super Media had a sale on with their high end DVD's, so I bought two stack of 100 with free shipping.

I have yet to have one fail. I decided to also try the CD's that were offered, and they are of the same quality, not one has failed yet.

I usually wait for these DVD's or CD's to be on sale with free shipping, and buy a stack or two.

I have never had any problems with Super Media Store, they send me a conformation email within minuets of my purchase, follow-up with another email when they are shipping the items, are are a very trustworthy and reliable Internet store. Great Product If your looking for no coasters

I just save my old 100 count spindle and place these onto it.I thought I had a problem with a couple of discs but it was actually my dvd burner going out. My buffer level was dropping all the way to zero then back up to 100%.
I know these are made to burn at higher speeds but all my important burns are at 4X to help prevent errors.
It's always a good idea to have a decent dvd burner and the best media.

Taiyo Yuden Value Line dvd-r has continued to be the ONLY dvd brand I buy. Very few if any bad discs, it doesn't mess up my dvd player or recorder. It consistently delivers a good video and sound. Highly recommend it.

Taiyo Yuden are the only cd/dvd that will print correctly in my thermal printer. Also, I never have burn failures. They cost a little more, but are worth the extra expense.

Wish I knew you were putting them on sale (again) I missed the sale before Christmas, so I just bought 600 last week -- NOW they're on sale again. But you're sold out so it's not a total loss. Only place I can get a decent disc with a shiny surface for thermal printing. Lost less than 1% of the last 600. This ain't no Memorex!
