These discs are thicker than your average dvd's! I bought 2-100 pack cake boxes and the first disc in both boxes were defective. They both sounded like a coffee grinder in my dvd burner, but the rest of the discs seemed fine so far. For professional grade discs, the price seemed to justify itself.

Best DVD media ever purchased

I have purchased many different brands of DVD writable disks over the last few years. I usually consider it good media if I only burn one coaster per 10. Sometimes I get really lucky and burn 3 coasters to every 10-ACK. I have not burnt one coaster with these. In fact most of the time when I insert media into my burner it takes anywhere from 3-6 seconds to spin up, recognize the media and then allow me to proceed from there. When I insert one of these Taiyo Yuden DVD's into my drive, it is instantly recognized. Immediately available for burning or if it already has media on it, it is immediately available to access or playback. I have reviewed DVD's and manufacturers many times, and I had read if you can find actual Taiyo Yuden media that it is some of the best available. I wondered when reading that what kind of burner those folks had, must be a high priced model as my little measly $29 model must just burn coasters, was I wrong. You just have to buy good media and Taiyo Yuden is it!

I've used the the Taiyo Yuden DVD-R media for everything from photo storage to client video presentations to retail sales and have never had a problem recording to them OR printing on them. Cake box damaged in shipping so I called customer service (first time in 3 years I've had to call Supermedia CS) expecting to return damaged goods before receiving replacement. First, let me say Supermedia's customer service is the best! After explaining the issue, without hesitating, the rep asked for my address, located the order, and initiated a replacement order. When I asked how to return the damaged goods, I was told, "No need". Like I said, absolutely top shelf customer service and replacement policy.

As a small home studio, I use 100-200 discs a month in mastering and high-speed copying. I find T-Y discs to be reliable in both applications, with a very low reject rate (1/100). The Taiyo Yuden White Inkjet Hub Printable 16X DVD-R Media 200 is a product I ordered previously. It is the best price I have found anywhere, and the DVDs are high quality. We've been using this model for years with good results. I worried when I started seeing the Value Line, but happy that these are still available. Not double boxed when I buy the 600-pack case, so some boxes come a little beat up from shipping but these tape wrapped packs don't have the broken spindle problem that the cake boxes have.

I have used hundreds of T-Y discs with good results. I have used about a dozen of these, and with three of them I got a "Cannot Record" message. I hope that failure rate doesn't continue - assuming they are bad discs.

I've been buying Taiyo Yuden media for seven years, would have been longer but I didn't know years ago that CDs / DVDs deteriorate over time. Since I've started using Taiyo Yuden media, I've not burned a single coaster, and as of yet have had no disk with so much as a single corrupt file (knock on wood).

SuperMediaStore.com service and shipping are exactly what I expect from a quality establishment, and while the price is a little higher than what you'll pay for the same type media at the big retailers, it's nowhere near the quality of the Taiyo Yuden.

Put simply: buy these disks, you won't regret it.

I've been using Taiyo-Yuden DVD and CD materials for years. I ordered 2-200 pack Silver Thermal Lacquer 4.7 GB 16X DVD-R when they were on sale. As always the Taiyo-Yuden disc quality is excellent and burning at 16X I've noticed no problems or glitches on playback. My only gripe is that the 4 spindles should have been packed better because one of the spindle holders cracked in shipment due to insufficient packing material. However, they did arrive very quickly as always. Great product and highly recommended! I wouldn't and don't use anything other than Taiyo-Yuden discs.

I film and create sports DVDs for our local high school lacrosse teams. Originally I used whatever DVD-Rs I could find that were the cheapest priced. I later found that low price and quality product are usually mutually exclusive. Quality control issues with Taiyo Yuden DVD-Rs?

I have been using Taiyo Yuden DVD-Rs 16x disks for several years, burning them at 16x without problems. Recently I started having numerous failures, with about 6 consecutive disks bombing. I had just received a new spindle of these disks so I opened them and tried them, only to have the same failure rate.

I then kept a detailed log and tried every option I could think of: use three different burning apps, completely fill the disk vs. burn just a few small files, use different burning speeds, and insure that no other CPU-hungry apps were running while burning was taking place. I even replaced my DVD burner.

It was pretty frustrating to find that cheap Office Deport DVD-Rs would burn at 16x but that 16x Taiyo Yudens would only burn reliably at 8x. SuperMediaStore did give me a refund, which I used to purchase additional 16x Taiyo Yudens. Fortunately this batch seems ok.

After using approximately 250 of Taiyo Yuden's Silver Thermal Laquer blank DVD's, I think I've only had 2 bad ones. These are the best blank DVD product I have ever used.
