We have been using these on and off for over 10 years and never had a problem. The last batch we got had HUGE gliches. Tape didn't record in the middle of a football play and a song. Just stopped and then started back up. Used 3 different cameras and 3 different events and had from 1 to 4 minutes gliches!!!! Will NEVER use these again for anything we are paid to record or anything that can't be recorded again. :( Sooo disappointed.

I use these tapes for event videography, upload them to my server, and then archive the tapes. I have never had any problems.
You could probably buy more expensive tapes, and re-use them, but if you are re-using your tapes, you either need to stop, or find a cheaper hobby. (I'm just sayin...)

I had a week of lead time so I dropped by the W@[^^@>t to see how much some tapes would be 3 for $20. Crazy!!
So I ran by B{$][ }()Y an found 6 for $30. Insane!!!
Went home jumped on the computer Sunday after noon ordered 20 for $40. Sweet Deal Got them Thursday. Shot my show on saturday knowing I didn't get reamed with brick and mortar.

Good tapes, been getting these at the local big box store, but they don't carry them anymore. So supermediastore had the best price! Good tapes for SD recordings with my Sony VX2100's. I was using Maxell's but they started dropping frames. I havent had near as many problems with the Sonys. Hopefully this is the last batch of tapes I have to buy, I want to upgrade to HD and tape free! (probably the NX5U)

I use these instead of HDV tapes

Tapes are the same you would get at Best Buy for $7 each and here you pay less than $3 each. Also this company is really good with the shipping. No charges with a certain purchase amount, they keep you informed by emailing you about your package trajectory and the package gets to you sometimes sooner than expected. Best prices for tapes and best delivery. They are definately doing something right and taking care of the customers. This is my third time buying tapes here and will be my final destination.

Is quality slipping?

I've used these tapes for years and have always liked them. I've probably gone through the range of 400-600 of these tapes. But the last batch I bought seemed to have some quality control problems. On every tape, I am now getting dropouts. Now it's not often and it doesn't last long. But I never saw dropouts in the past. I now get at least one dropout per tape lasting for about 2 seconds. The last tape I used had drops about 3 times on the same tape. It is possible it is my cameras but I don't think it is because I use about 3 cameras per job. It happens on every camera. I also use Panasonic 83 minute tapes and I never get a dropout on those. So it sure looks like it is the Sony tape causing the problem. Since I buy the tapes about 100 at a time, maybe the quality control was limited to the last batch. I just ordered two hundred more. We'll see what happens with this order. And yes, I'm still using the tapes anyway. The price is great and since I use 3 cameras anyway, I can always pull a shot from one of the other cameras.
