Printable Surface didn't handle ink as well as some other.

The printable surface didn't absorb the dark areas well. Areas that had heavy blacks were blotchy with wet ink lying on the surface. Probably will not purchase again because of this reason alone.

As always, this media is superb. Been using for a couple of years now, and problems are rare. My only concern is the changes that have been made regarding the free delivery. You used to get free delivery via Fedex, door to door, for orders over $25.00. It has now gone to over $50.00, and is delivered by Fedex to my home town, then sent by the US post office to my home, which can add up to 3 days to the final arrival. Come on Super Media Store, the original way is why I fell in love with you guys to begin with. The packaging also was very poor, not as usual at all. Just one small strip over bubble material, which was not sufficient to keep my discs from flailing around, and bursting out of their wrapping. This is NOT acceptable, and I am sure not the way you want your items handled. The combination, I am sure, save you a few cents on each shipment, but that is not the way to earn repeat customers. If you can't lower the purchase requirements for free shipping, at least have Fedex ship door to door. Otherwise I have always been very pleased.

When I received my original shipment, the DVDs were not packed well and had come loose from the wrapping. They were scattered all over the bottom of the box. I was not pleased at all and contacted cutomer service. Right away I was notified that a new pack of DVDs would be mailed to me. This time they were well packed and were in good shape. So I commend them for their immediate response to my dislike. I have used SuperMediaStore.com for many years and have used the same DVDs for years (Ritek&Ridata)and have never had a problem. As a matter of fact I have had 100% quality burning from the DVDs and not even one time have I had to throw away a disk because it failed to play right. So, all is well that ends well.

Discs appear to be as advertised. I was nominally disappointed with two things I discovered:

First, I found they had been on sale for less at SuperMediaStore earlier in the year. I was disappointed I had missed the sale; and

Second, I found that they are writable at only 8x instead of what is typical of 16x. This means it'll take twice as long to burn DVDs. I will probably not buy 8x discs in the future, but they seem to work properly.

Poor packing caused shipping damage -- again!

Never got a chance to try these discs. There was NO packing material in the box except for 1 cardboard divider. In the shipment, there were 3 cake packs of discs (1-100 and 2-50) rattling around in the box. By the time I recieved them, one package had broken open and the other 2 were marred and therefore suspect. The CR rep tried to talk me out of rejecting the shipment! I reordered anyway and asked them to thoroughly pack next time. The next shipment arrived today and was packed the SAME with the exception of one sheet of bubble wrap laid over the discs which were still rattling loose in the box, unpadded. UNBELIEVEABLE!!

The wrap was broken on both DVD Packs and 3 of dvd disc were unusable (Scraches). I have these items shipped to me many times in the past and this was the first time I had any problem with the shipment.

I have bought hundreds of these, and they work fine. When they arrive, there is always some damage to the end caps or the plastic wrapper around the stack of discs. I don't think I have ever received an undamaged shipment of discs, but the discs themselves were never damaged.

One 8X 50 pack was mostly OK but with the other pack almost every disc resulted in recording errors of one kind or another mostly artifacts and very pronounced "skipping", also one with a stretch of bad audio as well. Ragged phyical appearance of the discs indicates some kind of production problem. They have a sharp burr along the edges which my be due to a worn-out stamping die or they otherwise missed some quality control step. They _will_ more-or-less record but with very poor results. I got about a third of the way through and gave up on that especially bad pack.

I am very happy. These burn well, and the printable surface is as smooth as glass. The prints leave Verbatim in the dust.I have done the side by side comparisons. Burn these at a slow speed, if you have issues. I burn two at a time, at max speed, with no problem. A very affordable alternative to the premium discs.

Last night was the first time I have used the Ritek Ridata DVD media. I copied a single length movie for a personal backup copy via DVDShrink - and got a perfect copy.

Very pleased and judging by all the feedbacks I have read, this seems to be the "norm". So I am looking forward to using these very reasonable prics for all my needs in the future.

We have been using these disks for years for our fliers when we go to bridal shows. Using an automated system to copy and print on the disks, we're averaging better than 98% keep rate with only 2 in a 1000 that are bad after the process. Since we don't test the discs prior to burning them it could quite possibly be the robot having an issue meannign that all the disks were perfect.

Anyway-
I usually buy about 5K of these disks a year and burn/print on all of them with great results.

No spindle or base for stacking just shrink wrapped, other than that they're fine.

To store them you'll need an old base and spindle from other DVD's you've purchased. These come wrapped in shrink wrap and that's it. Once you open the package there is no way to store them easily. Other than that, I haven't had a problem with them.

I have used these same discs from this same company for more than six years now and in all that time, I've only ever received one bad batch of 50 that were promptly replaced. And even that batch was more than 50% good. I've also tried Memorex, Verbatim and some of the bigger consumer brand names and all (with the exception of Maxell) sucked in terms of consistency. These discs go in an automated hopper so one or two bad ones in a row means constant monitoring and that defeats the whole purpose. Five thumbs up for Ritek and Super Media.

I back up my movies, my data, my journals, literally everything onto disks. I don't want to lose that data so I have to use a quality disk. A cheap disk might work but its a crap shoot when you look at it later on some other system and it won't read properly. Ridata disks are not the most expensive but they work. I have almost zero problems with them. Maybe one disk in two hundred won't verify correctly so that's pretty amazing for a disk of this price.

The Ritek Ridata discs are an excellent all-purpose solution to recording video and data. The compatibility is very good so my customers very rarely have problems with the discs and the defect rate is very low. A Casio Ink Ribbon Printer is used for titling and always looks excellent. I'm a longtime customer of SuperMediaStore and have never been disappointed. I buy hundreds of blank dvd a year and have settled on Ridata as my disc of price. It's very compatible with my various dvd burners (Plextor and LiteOn) and burned discs play with very few problems on a variety of dvd players. The regular price of these discs is very good: they are the cheapest quality printable dvd-r discs I've been able to find. And watch for more than occasional sale prices that make them even more a bargain. In short: a great deal in all ways.

I bought 1400 of these for a upcoming dupe job for use with my Supermediastore Premium Line 7 target tower duplicator. I loaded my video onto the built-in HD and started burning these 8x speed disc's at 4x speed. To my utter amazement at the end of 1400 copies I only had 1 coaster, that's right 1. That has NEVER happened to me before even with Watershield discs. It may be that I got a good batch or something but with kind of coaster rate I'll keep buying them. I am VERY happy!

These are great disks with one exception, it doesn't seal in the ink well. I can't print to these unless I lessen the ink flow control. The recommendation says let dry for 24-48 hours but it has been more than 5 days and it still is wet. These recordable media itself works great, particularly for use in older players.

I used to swear by Taiyo Yuden media, but some months back I started having compatibility issues with even their top line. Looking for a quick fix I purchased a few different DVD-R medias to check my hardware. All performed better than the Taiyo Yuden in the problem recorder, but surprisingly the low-end RiTek/RiData media was flawless. In six months and several hundred discs I have yet to experience a failure burning even with the persnickety old recorder.

I'd bought RiData media many times before, but never really trusted it because of the price, but after making this comparison I went and started pulling out RiData discs I'd recorded on years ago... and none of them I tried had any problems. I can't always say the same for Taiyo Yuden discs.

I don't know the engineering aspects of the long term viability of Ritek DVD-R compared to other brands, but they serve my short term functionality and performance versus price quite well. I have noticed that performance of DVD-R in general is more a function of which drive I use instead of the disc which another engineering factor to consider. I've had better luck with Lite-ON drives rather than Pioneer in that regard. SuperMediaStore has the best prices and shipping that I've found.

Hate these. Hoped they'd be a decent replacement for the more expensive Taiyo Yuden, but am greatly disappointed. If you burn a DVD with 85% capacity filled, the disk will fail. I've got a stack of 15 coasters until I figured this lesson. Now, until I get rid of these bad discs, all DVD's will need to be 3/4 full or less.

I bought the Ridata DVD-Rs because I was trying to find a DVD-R solution that played backups of my DVDs in my Samsung DVD player. It tends to be finicky about what brand/dye it is able to play back, and the Ridata media played back flawlessly. Previous DVD-Rs tried would either not play entirely, or would skip the titles and would scramble the DVD chapter orders.

These discs have a very low failure rate when we use them in our automated duplication robot. I have tried other brands and you can see the drink coaster pile grow much faster but out of 2,000 cycles with these I think I got >10 rejects...
