Review of Kodak DVD+R DL 8X 8.5GB Double Layer Media 200 Pack in Cake Box (50121)

We found that most of the DVD's to erreos in the middle of writing to Kodak DVD's. no problem with the Memorex

Great product for the price; fair quality.

For dual-discs, these are excellent. I've tried other dual-discs and these are the best I've tried yet. I only wish Kodak made them with a printable surface.

I read the other reviews and thought if I burn at 2X I should be OK as long as I get 30+ usable discs out of the 50 count package. I ended up with 30 discs that were able to be burned through various tries and strategies. I am running two C2D Mac Mini's(different model years OS10.6), a MacBook (OS10.6) and a WIndows XP box. For the Mac machines I used both Toast as well as the native DIsc Utility..oddly enough I was able to burn some blank media that Toast had not wanted to burn to. Even taking that into consideration I still have 10 unusable blank discs!! and

All 4 machines worked with some of the discs but not all of them. At current count I have 10 discs that are recognized as being blank but none of the machines will write to them. The most helpful error tells me that "the laser cannot calibrate the power level needed to burn the media".

Prior to even starting using the Kodak media I ran a lens cleaner on each machine to rule out that possibility for error. I also made sure that all of my firmware was up to date as was my burning software.

My advise is buy only if you have lots of time to waste trying to figure out different ways to try and burn your data and try multiple machines. It took me over 5 days just to burn 30 discs using all 4 machines. Also follow the other reviews and ONLY burn at 2X (2.4x if you use APple's Disc Utility). Next time I will spend the extra to get the Verbatim media and have more time left over and less hassle because I won't be fighting with BAD MEDIA!!!! Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!! I won't be Kodak's fool!!!

This product is great for the price and I have no problem with burning

Arrived in one week, can't expect too much for free shipping (had to buy three cake boxes of 50 pack (over $50) to get free shipping). So far, used eleven disks and encountered one toast, my usual experience with DL disks. Just wish manufacturers have better quality control over DL disks and lower the cost....consumers dream!

This is the 3rd pack of cake box of kodak DL dvds I have purchased, and it is the first that I have had issues with. I have been burning disks for years, and nearly half of these disks were corrupted. Generally, I am very happy with this product from supermediastore. I will buy in the future, as I assume it is just a bad batch.

Best price, super fast delivery and I have not found a bad one in over 300 so far. Can't get much better!
