I read the other reviews and thought if I burn at 2X I should be OK as long as I get 30+ usable discs out of the 50 count package. I ended up with 30 discs that were able to be burned through various tries and strategies. I am running two C2D Mac Mini's(different model years OS10.6), a MacBook (OS10.6) and a WIndows XP box. For the Mac machines I used both Toast as well as the native DIsc Utility..oddly enough I was able to burn some blank media that Toast had not wanted to burn to. Even taking that into consideration I still have 10 unusable blank discs!! and
All 4 machines worked with some of the discs but not all of them. At current count I have 10 discs that are recognized as being blank but none of the machines will write to them. The most helpful error tells me that "the laser cannot calibrate the power level needed to burn the media".
Prior to even starting using the Kodak media I ran a lens cleaner on each machine to rule out that possibility for error. I also made sure that all of my firmware was up to date as was my burning software.
My advise is buy only if you have lots of time to waste trying to figure out different ways to try and burn your data and try multiple machines. It took me over 5 days just to burn 30 discs using all 4 machines. Also follow the other reviews and ONLY burn at 2X (2.4x if you use APple's Disc Utility). Next time I will spend the extra to get the Verbatim media and have more time left over and less hassle because I won't be fighting with BAD MEDIA!!!! Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!! I won't be Kodak's fool!!!

Arrived in one week, can't expect too much for free shipping (had to buy three cake boxes of 50 pack (over $50) to get free shipping). So far, used eleven disks and encountered one toast, my usual experience with DL disks. Just wish manufacturers have better quality control over DL disks and lower the cost....consumers dream!

This is the 3rd pack of cake box of kodak DL dvds I have purchased, and it is the first that I have had issues with. I have been burning disks for years, and nearly half of these disks were corrupted. Generally, I am very happy with this product from supermediastore. I will buy in the future, as I assume it is just a bad batch.

One third of the DVDs will not burn correctly

I have been burning DVDs for years with the same software. The normal loss rate is less than 10 percent that have errors but so far I have had to throw away 9 out of 26 DVDs because of errors while burning.
The Kodak brand is apparently inferior. I will not buy again

One of the lowest priced dual layer DVD+Rs you can find, beating out the long-standing bargain Memorex. I just finished my first cake box of 50 with no failures while burning and plays back in almost all DVD players (some older DVD players just won't play a burnable dual layer disc).

First 3 DVDs failed and there was no reason to try further. Cannot say anything about the price, because a product that does not work is worthless. The good thing is the easy return, the bad one - loss of time: waiting for DVDs, sending them back, waiting for other DVDs.

Top quality, this is my second order the first 50ct order, only had 1 coaster and that was my own fault! FAST Shipping! This order came with silver label, not the red and yellow that the last order came with.....it doesn't matter to me as long as the burning quality is there......will most certainly reorder when I run out again!

I've praised these discs in the past, both with their earlier, silver label form and with the newer orange nightmare label side. It seems that praise was premature. In the latest batch I received, 5 of the first 10 discs I used were coasters; all suffering from the same obvious defect on the writable side. The mfg. of these discs in India must be using blind quality control inspectors, or none at all. Obviously, the only really attractive feature of these Kodak discs is low price. With a 50% dud rate, they suddenly become the most expensive double layer media extant! Unless quality improves remarkably in the remaining discs, this will be my last Kodak order.

I'm sure Kodak outsourced the manufacture of these DVDs, but the fact remains that they are of very poor quality. So far, I've experienced a failure rate of an estimated 15 to 20%. Note that I've tried writing to two different burners -- one internal and one external; and two different brands of writing software. Regardless of the mix and match between hardware and software, the result is a regularly occurring "media failure" error message. Unfortunately, I ordered 200 of these DVD lemons and now must live with my mistake!

This is a great deal for a DVD-R but the labeling/branding on the discs makes writing on the disc with a Sharpie or similar marker, very difficult to read.

I have no issues with the media. All burn correctly with no errors. Cost is very inexpensive.
But the top covering has little space for writing and is a most ugly and irritating design. Kodak what could you have been thinking? The yellow covering with "Kodak" written all over is very hard on the eyes. They should have just left it blank.

I use dual layer media for my client video and I am not very happy with the extensive kodak logo across the face of the DVD. This is the first time I used Kodak brand and will be the last time. I do not want my clients seeing a Kodak ad every time they play the DVD that I produced for them.

For the price of these disks it was worth trying, but I still prefer a disk that doesn’t have writing all over the face of them. With the word Kodak all over the face of the disks you sometimes do not have enough room to properly label and define what is on the disk. The word Kodak in the red the one time is sufficient. We get the message that it is a Kodak product.

I assume the Kodak brand will hold up to its reputation for quality. As for Supermediastore: It offered the best price I've yet found for the product -- actually $10.00 less expensive than the vendor I used previously. And the product shipped quickly (no 3 days wait before it left the warehouse) and arrived promptly (without any shipping charge) via UPS. I shall this vendor for future purchases.

These double layer dvds have Kodak's "new" branding; the printed side is now a garish yellow with black lettering and an orange logo (the older dvds were two-tone silver). I also noticed that these are made in India, so Kodak has obviously gone to a different outside supplier. Quality, however, has not suffered -- I went through 50 of these with only one "coaster," which may have been caused by my error rather than a defective disc and is in any case no better or worse than other brands I've used, Maxell, TDK, Memorex and Verbatim, and considerably better than some Philips junk I bought 6 months ago. These discs also have a small area (~3in. x 2 lines) for a hand-written label, a nice touch. So, I like these, in spite of the ugly color, and will continue to use them. Only down side is UPS, which must still using mule trains to deliver between California and Chicago and gorillas for parcel handling!

1st. The disc label side is filled with the Kodak insignia, virtually useless for using a marker to annotate the disc( except for a small reserved area at the bottom. Long title? forget it).
2nd. Out of 15 burns non played back correctly on a standard DVD player. Oddly enough, I burned a Verbatum disc from the Kodak disc(checking to see if my equipment was faulty) and it played back without error.
3rd. Basically I would say you can record on them. They just don't play-back well. A major concern obviously.

We have finally gotten to a price point where higher quality video is economically sound. I've been converting 720p and 1080p video to work on standard dual layer DVDs. The picture quality is incredible. I wasted the first 10 discs in trial and error achieving the layer break point. Now I have it down pat and these discs have preformed spectacularly. My only complaint is I wish the color and pattern of the discs were different but even with that I'll be buying these again.

Standard DVD player reads these well. With 8 gig you can store half a season of tv series.
Xbox360 wouldn't recognize about 25% of these disks though.
Shipped free and fast and looked well packaged in styrofoam peanuts - SuperMedia did a good job there. But the post office must have had gorillas tossing the box around pretty hard. The plastic case was busted, and that's hard to do.

The Kodak discs DVD+R DL 8X seem to work okay, no bad writes yet. Only issue I have is that they are yellow on the label side. Does not make for wrting on them as good, as you have to use a thicker marker or a lable. (I use labels) The plain ones are better for using the marker.
Also, I ordered 2 each 50 unit spools, and one of the plastic spools was broken on the bottom. Looks like it ws dropped BEFORE being placed into the box. Packaging was perfect, so not the carriers fault (UPS Ground). It was put into the box damaged. Not a big deal, as I just reused my last spool. But for someone who did not have an empty spool, this would have been an issue.
Otherwsie all is okay.

Ugly discs!

These DVDs have the ugliest label side on them Ive ever seen! Its this obnoxious 'kodak' repeated on vomit yellow. They only leave you one small little area to label the disc, which of course does not stand out as it is surrounded by the word kodak 5 thousand times. Definitely spend a small amount more and get some other brand that has a more traditional, simple label side.

Garish Branding and Unacceptably High Failure Rate

Unlike most brands of DVD discs that are usually silver with some type of subtle branding, these discs are just gross. They are a bright yellow/orange, with the word "Kodak" spiraling around and around the disc, in ever decreasing size, from the outside of the disc to the center. Aside from their truly gross appearance, more than 50% of these discs fail. I would never recommend or buy this product again.

Hughest quality - Dependable - Fantastic price

I could pay more, but there would be nothing to gain.These disks are of the highest quality, and unlike other 50 pack spindles from which I had to throw out an aerage of 5 disks out of 50, I have not gotten one bad disk and have used one full 50 pk and am now on my second 50 disk spindle. FIVE stars our of fie.

Been using MEMOREX had alot of problems with the duel layer, Kodack no problems at all with any of the layering seem to be a good product can tell you more after a another spindle

I recently switched from Memorex DVD's to these Kodak DL DVD's because they cost less. I was surprised when I went through my first 50 pack of Kodak DVD's and they all burned successfully. I'm used to throwing away atleast 3 Memorex DVD's per pack of 50 Memorex due to write errors. I'm sticking with Kodak. I've burned over 400 Kodak DVD's at 6x and still haven't had one wasted DVD.

This is the 2nd batch of these I've ordered. The 1st came from Newegg, since SuperMediaStore was sold out at the time. These discs are just as good as the Memorex or TDK discs I have been using at a slightly lower price. I've been through almost 100 without a single coaster. Good product; great price.

I didn't realize these DVDs were re-writable, but that doesn't even matter because they are very good quality, they work well with my Macbook Pro - which a certain kind of DVD/CD won't work well - AND it was shipped super fast!

I buy and use alot of media and like to experiment....Kodak was new for DL so I tried it. I wish I had not, you lose more media than you save...I recommend memorex for overall quality,price,and lasting quality...they have better DL media bye far.....Kodak 4.7g media I buy all the time with no problems....maybe I got a bad batch or something,,but I am not willing to throw more money away......
