It seems strange that in this ever greening world the Kill-A-Watt is still THE industry standard for anyone wanting to log electricity usage. I have used this at home and at work. It does exactly what it is supposed to do, and it can reveal some nice (or not so nice) surprises! Price was lower elsewhere, but with free shipping (I bought other stuff, too) this is hard to beat.
Now is the time to find out what that flat screen TV and the comcast tripple play box really cost you every month :-(

I'm currently testing most all the electrical devices in my house. It's nice to know exactly how much it costs to leave them plugged in and operate. The only thing I'd like is.......another one! At a week per device to get a good average use it will take a year to check everything out.

Delivered in a reasonable amount of time. Device works as described in other reviews. Price=Value for the money...though it was on sale elsewhere after buying it from Supermedia store. If the instruction sheet had formulas for calculating electricity costs the package would be complete. But, that can be found in online reviews of the device by other users. Buy this product if you want to be able to test the power consumption of 120 volt appliances which plug into a wall socket. P.S. Don't forget to get knee pads and bring your flashlight when viewing the LED readings when it is plugged in a wall receptacle that is hard to get to...(or, use a simple extension cord between the device and the wall receptacle).

I ordered this prouct when it was on sale. It arrived well really quick! My only nitpick: You can only plug one item in the (traditional) outlet when this device is on it because of the size. Otherwise, it works as expected.

First, thanks to SuperMedia for a good product at a great price and quick delivery.
I now have three of these for use around the house and showing family, friends and neighbors how much electrical energy appliances are using. The first one reads a small amount of current (not zero) with nothing plugged in. This is slightly anoying, but one can use a little math to subtract the small errant power from the reading. The other two have no problems. It's nice to be able to see the instantainous power, voltage and current, but the neatest feature is to monitor the long term energy usage of devices that turn on and off over the course of a day or longer. It has helped me show others how they can save energy with a little more consideration and awareness of their energy usage.

This device is a very handy way to check how much electricity each of your appliances and devices uses. For those curious about how much it costs to leave a PC running 24/7, or a PS3 running Folding@Home 24/7, this answers the question quickly.
The lack of a backlight on the screen makes it tough to read in some situations, but that's really the only blemish on this otherwise fantastic product.

A very handy energy monitor

This is the second Kill-a-Watt I purchased as a present for my son who just baought a house. The unit provides accurate readings when using appliances, especially if the appliance has a motor. Air Conditioners, heaters, vacuum cleaners, etc. all have a surge load when you start them, and the Kill-a-Watt unit lets you see the load. Knowing that you can balance your house circuits and your energy costs. It is a very handy tool to have around the house.

What's to say? Accompanying instructions hardly needed, operation quite intuitive. impressive range, lots more usable than analog meter - gives wattages all the way from a few (e.g., night-light) to Microwave Oven, hundreds of watts to TOO MANY, like 1800+ !! Nothing to complain about.

Some reviews I've read complain about it's hard to read the meter when it's plugged into the wall socket.

A very useful tool for finding out where your electric power ($) is going. For example I found that my satellite TV box draws 12 watts on or OFF! The flat panel TV, DVD player and DVD/VCR draw none when off. Now if only I can teach the wife to throw the switch on the power strip when she turns off the TV :-)
The only downside I have seen is the LCD display which is hard to read when not viewed straight on. I have worked around this by plugging the Kill-A-Watt into a short, heavy duty extension cord so I can hold it at a convenient height (and not have to get on my hands and knees to read it when plugged into a wall outlet).
Supermediastore had this on sale at an excellent price. Even though they sold out and had to put it on back order I received it in about a week.

The Kill-A-Watt is a handy device to find energy wasters around the house. It works just like it says. My only minor complaint was that I ordered the product "in stock" and they later informed me that it was on back order. Luckily, a new shipment came in within 4-5 business days and they promptly shipped it. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase. I still have a lot of items to test!

The instructions that come with this thing are very vague. I went to their site and thought there might be better instructions there but all they have is an adobe document of the same thing they send with it. Who knows if it works like it should! I sure don't know. Although it was very resonably priced,if I could just figure out how to use it!

The Kill-A-Watt meter is a very easy and practical tool for determining the actual cost of using an appliance. We had an old refrigerator in our laundry room and assumed that it was costing a fortune to run. I used the kill-a-watt meter to measure a few days of power consumption (killowatt-hours), compared that with specs of new Energy Star refrigerators, and it turns out that it's not too bad! The meter saved us from buying a new refrigerator!
If you are at all interested in electric bills, your "carbon footprint", or just practical about where your energy is going, this is a great investment.

This model does not have some of the features found in the more expensive models. For example, it doesn't allow you to input your electricity rate so that it can display the cost. It provides the kilowatt hours and you have to calculate the cost yourself.
Also, it does not retain data when it's unplugged or when the power goes off.

If you're looking for a simple way to measure how much energy you're electronics and appliances are using, this will do what you need. Plug it in, turn it on and choose your measurement. Doesn't log the info for you, but for the price you can't go wrong.
