The new value line of CD's by JVC Taiyo Yuden work
well. I've never had a coaster yet, and I've purchased them several times. The discs seem to be very thin and easily breakable compared to the old Taiyo Yuden CDR's.
I don't understand why the price is as high, or sometimes higher than the old ones were. I know the company saves money by making them thin, so why doesn't the savings get passed along to the customers that use their products. Super Media Store won me over a long time ago, and I am sure that I will remain a loyal customer. The service is great, as are the products.

The TY white ink-jet printable value line has produced spectacular results. On my last batch of 100 I made no coasters! If you are like me, you don't have an ink-jet printer that will print on CD's. Therefore, I use a Sharpie and it works fine on the white surface. Highly recommended product.

Good product but shipping/order problems

Went to place the order online and was suppose to get free shipping. The free shipping option did not appear so I did an online chat. The person from Supermedia store said to place the order and it should change the shipping to free once the order is placed. I placed the order but no surpise it didn't change the shipping to free. I went back to the online chat and the person told me they would credit my order before it ships so I wouldn't be charged for the shipping. A few days later my card is charged the full amount and the shipping charges are not removed. I email Supermedia store and am told the shipping charges will be refunded. This time they follow through and the charges are refunded. I have had other orders with Supermedia store and this is the first problem I have ran into. They did make it right but it took a few trys before it was corrected.

It's TY BUT......

Working in the recording industry I have occasion to talk with many others who also produce large numbers of CD-R disks. It's come to my attention that there have recently (since the merger with JVC) been some bad batches of TY out there. The reports I have gotten (in two cases) actualy involved thermal printable disks. I don't know if other types have suffered as well though. I've burned 10's of thousands of TY's, both valueline and the premium cakebox media without trouble as yet, but I haven't started buring any of the last batch of 1,800 I just bought from SMS. I am currently doing some testing of the Swiss made Falcon Diamond disks and the results look good so far, though I'm nowhere near done with that testing. So far no personal complaints about any of the TY's I've gotten thusly, however.

I have been burned in the past with sub-par quality on blank media from other brands, but not since buying Taiyo Yuden stock. It's the "value" line, but just ran over 125 of these for some CDs and no issues at all. Highly recommended.

I accidentally bought the white printable tops by mistake, but the surface is really nice. The general quality of these discs are AWESOME!! I have used TY for years and have burned thousands of these discs with only a HANDFUL of coasters...the ONLY one's I buy for my customers!

Even tho value lines are considered b-stock (from the first and last few hundred of a shift run) these are better than premiums from other brands and once you factor in the cost of the non-coasters these are about the same price. I also buy their dvd-r's and out of probably 5,000 discs over the past year I've had 6 coasters and 2 was my fault (breaker popped while burning before I got a ups and moved some appliances around). Personally I'd rather pay 1/3 more and have almost 100% good ones rather than pay 1/3 less and waste time turning a 100-pack into 30-35 coasters.

I have ordered Taiyo Yuden value line CDs several times now.
They make very good quality audio CDs that don't skip in CD players, like some cheap disks do.
They are also good for data - no problems there either.
Out of hundreds of disks, I have only had 2 failures - that's over 99% reliability
