This product worked exactly as expected
By Craig on 09/28/2010
I often buy remanufactured ink cartridges from Supermediastore. Yesterday, I put this Light Magenta cartridge in my printer and it worked just like an OEM cartridge, but at about 1/3 the price. Which is a much better deal than I can get at any office supply store. Which is why I buy almost all of my ink cartridges at Supermediastore.

Now, I will point out that the rate of failure of these remanufactured cartridges is, in my experience, higher than brand new cartridges. I'm guessing about 5% failure rate, although I haven't done the math to verify it, and I'm not even sure how many cartridges I've ordered from Supermediastore (probably more than 50, probably less than 100). But Supermediastore has an effective return policy, and they have always replaced defective cartridges with working ones upon request. However, I would appreciate it if the RMA policy were simplified a bit. I mean, it takes about a half hour of my time to get a replacement for a failed $6 product ... so sometimes I just take a failed cartridge to Staples, where I get a $3 in-store credit for each recycled ink cartridge.

Now a decade or so ago, I had a MicroTek TruLaser, which was a GREAT printer. I could buy toner refills for $5 from EPSON, and they lasted for 6 months or more. Which just goes to show you that ink and toner are WAY overpriced now, and these remanufactured cartridges represent what SHOULD be the norm, if we were all responsible consumers who recycled our cartridges and demanded value with every purchase.

I will point out that my MicroTek TruLaser cost $1100 and the refills did not replace the entire toner cartridge, just the toner basket (which could get messy if you weren't careful). So, we consumers have shown our buying patterns to the industry and we prefer to buy cheap printers and expensive ink and toner cartridges. But if you do the math, you'll find that we would be better off the other way around.
