Problems with accepting non-Canon cartridges

I have problems with my Canon MX870 All-in-One accepting the cartridges, but I have found that if I turn the Canon off after I print something that it will recognize the cartridges when it first turns on. (If I leave it on, it balks at the non-Canon cartridges.) This is not ideal, but I gladly keep turning the Canon off and on to enjoy the savings of the non-Canon cartridges.

Price for this cartridge are very good, but is it worth the time NO !!. I having trouble since day one when I install the compatible ink cartridge. It seem like my printer is not recognize the ink. I have to wiggle and play around quite a bit to make it work ( one once ) I have to reset, open, wiggle etc. to print another page. For me is not worth it !!!!

I tried these ink replacements from 4inks and they did not work properly in either my mx870 or mx560 Canon printers. Your cartridges have worked well. My only complaint is that when you ship USPS first class you give a tracking number. If I click it in you e-mail I go to the UPS tracking page and that's the wrong company. Also USPS is not very good at tracking first class, they recognize the number but have no tracking information. They seem to do better and faster with Priority Mail. I can't complain as it is free shipping, but I thought I would comment.

The printer has a built in sensor to detect "non CANON cartridges"!! It will interupt your print jobs constantly. You have to open cover or turn off printer, which cancels print job, to force the printer to "recognize the print cartridge" If anyone knows how to override this please let me know. mgray3@cfl.rr.com. Until a work around is known, DO NOT BUY THESE CARTRIDGES!!

positives
1- printer recognized all cartridges.
2 - no clogs even after a week of no printing and printer turned off.
3- no difference in print quality from OEM. This includes photo printing.

negatives
1- ink cartridges do not seem to last as long as originals.
2 - incorrect “low ink” warnings on cartridges. Colors can be as much as half full when “low ink” warning comes on but the “printing black” was dry when the warning showed up. This could cause print head damage. I suggest visually checking the ink cartridge as soon as the low ink warning appears.

I would buy these again if needed but I have begun to refill them myself and that is even a cheaper way to go. For those who don’t like the mess of refilling, these cartridges are great. The price can’t be beat especially if your lucky enough to get them on sale.

I am always leery about using non-OEM products on delicate equipment, especially my printers. However, this ink seems to do just fine. The color quality of the ink was terrible, but the cartridges were cheap. At least now I can use the printer for black & white graphics and text. When the color cartridges are empty, this printer will not even allow you to print black text. So for less than the cost of an average black ink cartridge I was able to replace all five cartridges.

Even though the ink quality is pathetic, I will probably buy them again from this site just to keep the printer working for text and grayscale graphics.
