CD-R Media
CD-R media refers to CD Recordable and was the first recordable disc format. CD-Rs can be used to record data or audio (the more popular usage for this format) for later playback in CD players or computers. A recordable CD-R disc offers a storage capacity of 700MB or around 80 minutes when recording audio. As the name indicates, CD-R is a write once format, meanining data can only be recorded onto the disc one time. If you are looking for a format to write information multiple times, look into the CD-RW format. CD-RWs allows data to be written to it multiple times. The advantage of using CD-R media over DVD-R media is that you can record them more quickly. At their maximum write speed of 52x, you can burn a CD in 90 seconds. So if recording speed is important to you, and you are not limited by the 700MB or 80 minutes disc capacity; then burn your music, video, and data on blank CDs. Remember, a regular CD-ROM (Read Only Memory) drive will not be able to write information on a blank CD. You will need a CD-Recordable drive to burn your music, video, or data onto a disc. Please visit our CD, DVD, and Blu-ray Recorders page to see products we currently offer. While it may seem that CD-R is old and outdated format with the advent of DVD and Blu-ray media, but for burning audio, it's still the media of choice because it offers the speed, reliability, and the greatest compatibility across all disc players.
